In Brazil, there are more than 220 thousand people living in the streets, according to a study by the Institute for Applied Economic Reaserch (Ipea). The number grew 140% between 2012 and march 2020. With the coronavirus pandemic, it continues to rise.

It is more than the number of habitants of cities like Criciúma (SC), Andra dos Reis (RJ) and Lauro de Freitas (BA). In the second most populous city in the country, there are around seven thousand homeless.

The documentary series Vozes da Ruas seeks to transform these data into names, faces and stories.
